Analysis, part 3 - Internal Waistband

The DS9/NEM and VOY duty trousers had an internal waistband, rather than the external ones typically seen on trousers and pants.

DS9, 6x16 "Change of Heart"
VOY, 7x4 "Repression"

Considering these DS9/NEM duty trousers worn by a stunt double (or was it a stand-in?) for Captain Picard in Nemesis, we think it's safe to assume the waistband seam allowances were understitched, and the lower edges could be protected with petersham or bias tape rather than simply overlocked (although that might actually be lining - not sure):

Granted, not only are these not "hero" duty trousers, but they were possibly recycled duty trousers from the abandoned Generations uniforms (as evidenced by the tag). Sometimes the tags got mixed up, though; some uniforms were mislabeled over the years, which may have been mistakes or the costuming staff just desperately grabbing whatever tags were within reach in the frantic sewing frenzy.

Regardless, the finished effect of the internal waistband was a nice one - smooth and elegant!

VOY, 6x25 "The Haunting of Deck Twelve"
