Exceptions and Oddities, part 3

Another exception to the standard duty trousers was that the men's appeared to sometimes be dungaree-style trousers - i.e. "overalls" - as evidenced by these auction photos of some of the Sisko's screen-used uniforms:

Then again, you never know with Avery Brooks; he may have just preferred his pants that way, dungaree-style or not!

Obviously, the "overalls"-style duty trousers were only to be worn when the upper garment was worn entirely closed over them, thus hiding the overalls' front "bib."

And, since the VOY jackets were never worn closed, it stands to reason that the overalls-style duty trousers were only used with the DS9/NEM garments, and even then only when the wearer was wearing a closed upper garment in addition the division shirt ("captain jacket," "captain vest," or admiral jacket).

In addition to the further prevention of any accidental "peek-a-boo" of the division shirt between the duty trousers and the jacket or vest, sometimes the actors may simply have preferred wearing overalls-style trousers instead of "standard" trousers with suspenders, or no other support.

Nemesis
The overalls-style trousers weren't always used, though:

NOTE: On our men's duty trousers pattern, we've included both wearing options so the costumer may construct the style of their choice - "regular" trousers which may be worn with or without suspenders, and the dungaree/overalls-style trousers.
