Tutorial, part 1 - Pattern Pieces

For the Voyager-style trousers (with the 6" split at the bottom center front), we recommend adding an additional ⅝" seam allowance to the bottommost 8" center front and side front panels - that is, 6" for the split plus 2" hem allowance.

This will form what looks like a typical vent seen on sleeves and jacket backs:

The trousers were not vented, but it appears the VOY duty jumpsuits had this additional seam allowance where the split was, so we recommend adding it to the trousers as well on principle.

They will assemble fine without it, though!

Cut out the pattern pieces as indicated on the printed pattern.

Serge all edges of each trouser panel (center front, side front, side back, and center back).

(Voyager-style Starfleet trousers pictured above - note the extra
seam allowance at the bottom of the front seam line.)

Different pieces are cut for the TROUSERS and OVERALLS versions, so we'll cover serging for those construction options when we get there.
