Tutorial, part 7d - Overalls Securing

Overlap the diamond-shaped portions of the center backs so edges and seam lines meet and pin into place.

Edge-stitch around the center back "diamond" through all layers.
We recommend stitching around the diamond's perimeter twice to reinforce the area.

Topstitch again through all layers, ¼" inside the previous stitch line for additional stability.

Pin the bottom edge of the overalls facing assembly into place through the trouser/overalls attachment seam line (with said seam allowances still pressed upward!), then "stitch in the ditch" to secure the lower edge of the overalls facing to the garment assembly.

TIP: The facing assembly should overhang the trouser/overalls attachment seam line by ⅜".

NOTE: Securing the overalls attachment to the trousers in this manner - with the trouser/overalls seam allowances pressed upward and the bottom of the facing downward - keeps the accumulated bulk of the seam allowances more evenly distributed than just sewing on the whole attachment and facing at once. It's also easier on the invisible zipper at the waist line - you'll be glad you cut out the seam allowances and stay tape at the center front!
